My Grandaughter & my Dead Father

Sunday, June 21, 2009, 04:29 PM EST [General]

For the last 9 months my grandaughter who just turned 5 in March has been conversing with my father.  One problem, my father died January 22,2008.  She gets mad at him when he copies her or picks on her as he used to do with my brothers, myself & my daughters.    Otherwise she carries on what is an everyday normal conversation like she does with my husband & I.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think she's crazy.  She is very bright for her age & understands that he is dead.  She was 2 months shy of 4 when he died.  She unsterstands death that the person is no longer here.  She never seems scared or upset.

I would like feedback about what others might think.

    Pegi,

I agree with you I don't think your granddaughter is crazy at all!

My daughter and son in law live in an old house and have 3 children, the youngest 2 are twins age 2. My granddaughter (one of the twins) at times will turn her head away from you and look in the hallway as if she is watching someone and nobody is there. I don't know but, children seem very open minded to such things.
